Our special guest for Inter- Mission's 15th Anniversary
event
is acclaimed screenwriter and director, Ronald F. Maxwell.
The
son of a World War II veteran and a French war-bride, Ron Maxwell
founded the Garden State Players in New Jersey, where he wrote,
produced and directed dozens of plays and musicals. An NYU theatre
major, he was a member of its Hall of Fame Players and the Green
Room Honor Society. His work in NYU's theater program earned him
a scholarship to NYU's Graduate School of the Arts, Institute of
Film and Television.
Following graduation he worked in Spain as Charlton Heston's personal
assistant in Heston's directorial debut, Antony and Cleopatra.
Hollywood drafted Ron, where his first theatrical film,
Little Darlings, opened #1 on Variety's Top hundred grossing
films. Subsequently he directed The Night the Lights Went Out
in Georgia, Parent Trap II, a feature length documentary on
the Nicaraguan Civil War entitled, In the Land of the Poets,
and the landmark film Gettysburg, which has been hailed as
one of the greatest war movies in the history of film.
You'll want to join us for this exciting anniversary event where
we will experience a 40-minute preview of his newest film, Gods
and Generals, a Turner Pictures production. The prequel to Gettysburg,
God's and Generals is based on the novel of the same name
written by Jeff Shaara Robert Duval, Mira Sorvino, Jeff Daniels
and Stephan Lang star in this epic projected to release in February
2003.
