Kick-off the summer with Inter-Mission's celebration of the Best of the Best Short Films! We will be screening films from the 168 Hour Film Festival and the Damah Film Festival , as well as have discussions with some of the up-and-coming writers, directors and actors who worked on them. 168 Hour Film Project (www.168project.com) -- all films are created simultaneously as teams produce a 10-minute short film based on a theme & a Bible verse in one week (or 168 hours). Fifty-seven films were completed this year. Three TV news crews covered the Festival, including KNBC, who did a 4-minute lead story on "168." The winning films we will be showcasing are:
THE COMMISSION - Best Comedy, 168 Hour Film Festival 2005
Old school studio executives try to revive the Jesus franchise. Written, directed, and produced by Josh Greene.
MAX - Best Film, 168 Hour Film Festival 2004 and Best 15 Minute Film, Damah 2005
An angry man's conscience haunts him in the form of a stuffed rabbit. Produced by Dawn O'Keeffe. Directed by Jim O'Keeffe. (Winner of 4 film festivals and an International Cinematography Guild Award)
A TEMP FOR ALL SEASONS -- Best Film, 168 Hour Film Festival 2005
A worker who badly needs his job refuses to tell a little white lie for his boss resulting in comically absurd consequences. Produced by Michael Toay. Other "168" Awards: Best Scriptural Integration, Best Director, Best Original Score, Best Actor
The Founder and Executive Director of the 168 Film Festival, John Ware, will moderate discussions with the creative teams behind these movies.
The Damah Film Festival (www.damah.com) is a non-profit organization that encourages an emerging generation of filmmakers from diverse perspectives to voice the spiritual aspect of the human experience through film and provides a forum for these artists to develop, discuss and display their vision. The winning films we will be showcasing are:
THE DIVINE - Eighteen-year-old James Harris longs to be as free and as beautiful as a butterfly. Instead he lives a sad and lonely existence. Facially deformed since birth, James uses masks to hide his face from the world. He fears he may be utterly alone if his only friend, his ill mother, dies. In this suspenseful and spiritual drama, events unfold leaving James face to face with THE DIVINE. Written, produced and directed by Tim Hoover.
Katherine Makinney will moderate the discussion with the creative teams of these movies.
