cordially invites you
TO CELEBRATE
OUTSIDE-THE-BOX FILMMAKING

HOODWINKED was made like no other CGI feature ever - totally outside of the studio system, completely independently financed, cheaper and faster than any film of its kind, becoming a major theatrical release.   It was made for roughly a tenth of a typical CGI feature's budget.   Hear how this originally direct to DVD project snowballed into what it has become today.

FILMMAKER PANEL

CORY EDWARDS (writer/director) makes his feature film debut with HOODWINKED.   Edwards has been involved in almost every creative area of the business for over 15 years (writer, director, producer, actor, animator, art director and editor).   In 1995, Cory launched his own company, Blue Yonder Films, along with brother Todd Edwards, and producing partner Preston Stutzman.   Blue Yonder Films eventually relocated to the west coast, and Cory continued writing and directing animated projects for television and direct-to-video markets. This included WOBOTS an original sci-fi CGI adventure that he created from scratch. The pilot was visually grand enough to catch the eye of investor Maurice Kanbar who asked Cory and BlueYonder to consider creating a CGI feature that he would finance. Kanbar wanted to do something based on a classic story.

The end result grabbed the attention of Bob and Harvey Weinstein, on the eve of launching their new studio. As the Weinstein Company got involved, the scope of the cast expanded. Edwards worked with the voice talents of Glenn Close, Anne Hathaway, Chazz Palminteri and Jim Belushi.

MARK KEEFER (sound designer/editor) A multiple Emmy winner, Mark Keefer has been a sound designer/editor for many films and TV series. His background is in music as he used to own and run a recording studio mainly focusing on album work. He migrated over to post production twelve years ago and found his love for putting sound to picture. Since moving out to Los Angeles with his family almost 5 years ago, he has worked at facilities such as Skywalker Sound, Warner Bros Animation, and several other independent sound houses. Besides "Hoodwinked", his recent work also includes audio restoration of the vintage Looney Tunes cartoons for Warner Bros DVD release.

KATIE HOOTEN (associate producer) After finishing her BA at Anderson University in theater and her MA at Ball State University in Community Education with an emphasis in arts programming, Katie took the post as Manager of the Phillippe Performing Arts Center at Indiana Wesleyan University. After gaining some attention at Sundance (1999) for her role of "Judy" in CHILLICOTHE, written and directed by her brother Todd, she and husband Tim moved to L.A.. She partnered with Blue Yonder Films as a freelancer on a variety of projects and has worked for various clients including MTV, Newline, and Nickelodeon before joining the production team at Walt Disney Feature Animation Studios. Katie worked on such films as ATLANTIS, LILO & STITCH and TREASURE PLANET. She was later promoted to the Development Department where she worked directly with Disney's top directors, producers, and executives on special projects. Katie was associate producer on HOODWINKED and now joins Blue Yonder Films as its newest producer on several projects in development.

The Crest was first constructed in 1941 by Frances Seymour Fonda, the second wife of Henry Fonda and mother of Peter and Jane Fonda. Originally intended as a showcase for live theater, the onset of World War II brought with it the need for a venue where local residents could watch newsreels about the battles happening overseas. All but two buildings on the wall mural are real establishments from Westwood and Hollywood during the 1940s; The ceiling's starlights are celestially accurate; The shooting star is just a little "Hollywood magic."    You get a sense of watching movies under the stars.
