View LOS ANGELES EVENT HISTORY, 1987-Present

Founded on November 2, 1987, Inter-Mission is a dynamic and unique organization that has its finger on the pulse of the Entertainment Industry in Hollywood (and now in Minneapolis/St. Paul). It is comprised of nearly 4000 consummate professionals who have a love for Jesus Christ, a passion for excellence, and a desire to effect moral change on popular culture.

Our primary goal is to build up the Body of Christ professionally, spiritually, and personally. Professionally, we encourage committed Christians from a diverse cross-section of Protestant, Catholic and Orthodox backgrounds to allow God to lead them to quality moral projects so that we can individually and corporately produce excellence in television, film, and theatre. We have found that our members grow both spiritually and personally through the strong family of faith Inter-Mission has become. By strengthening and encouraging industry professionals who are members of the Body, we are changing Hollywood from the inside, in an organic, positive way that glorifies Christ.

Since its inception, Inter-Mission has been blessed with an extraordinary awareness of God's presence at each of our events. As the evening begins, the room buzzes with music, laughter and industry chatter. The dinner or social hour offers opportunities for further conversation and more intimate exchanges before the featured speakers of the evening take the stage in a Tonight Show format. Their professional experiences and testimonies inspire, encourage and uplift.

Our events have included films, plays, panel discussions, video tapes of television programs and speakers. Our guests have included: actors, Clifton Davis, Patty Heaton, Victoria Jackson, Dean Jones, Gavin MacLeod, George Newbern, Jonathan Schaech, and Nancy Stafford; directors, Charles Robert Carner, Bobby Garabedian, Louis Schwartzberg, and Tom Shadyac; producers, Carmen Finestra, Todd Komarnicki, Coleman Luck, David McFadzean, Ken Wales, Michael Warren,and Martha Williamson; musicians and song writers, Michael Omartian and Al Kasha; singers, William Akey, Jodi Benson, Pat Boone, Gloria Gaynor, Marty Goetz, Clint Holmes, Michael Maguire, and Deniece Williams; theatre critic, Michael Medved; animator, Glen Keane; writers, Lee and Janet Batchler (Batman Forever), Sister Helen Prejean (Dead Man Walking), Randall Wallace (Braveheart), William Zabka, and Hollywood script consultant, Dr. Linda Seger. We have premiered the television series: Touched By An Angel, Christy, Gabriel's Fire, Against the Grain, Second Noah and Kirk. We have spotlighted the world of animation, featured married couples in Hollywood, explored the world of stuntmen and women, featured writing partnerships in Hollywood and focused on the hit ABC series Home Improvement. Other events have included a tribute to the lives and careers of Roy Rogers & Dale Evans, and an evening featuring the new hit family video series, VeggieTales.

Inter-Mission also serves as a clearing house to direct interested professionals to existing ministries that can meet their spiritual, personal and professional needs on a more regular basis. These ministries which meet weekly or monthly include: Actors Co-op, Media Fellowship, Mastermedia International, Open Call, Premise, and SLATE Fellowship.

Inter-Mission sponsors four major quarterly events each year on Monday evenings. In addition, it hosts a National Day of Prayer event in May, a Spiritual Retreat and various other writer, actor and industry related workshops. Currently, an average of 400-700 industry professionals attend Inter-Mission events.

We are very excited about our growth and our future. We look forward to being used as an integral instrument of God in building up the body of Christ and creating a unified presence of Christians in the Hollywood and Minneapolis/St. Paul Entertainment Industry as well.
